Van den Bergh gets green card
July 13, 2007

RBNY's Dutch international, Dave van den Bergh, has secured his green card and will no longer count as a senior international, reports BigAppleSoccer. Van den Bergh, who was eligible for the card because of his American wife, was acquired from the Kansas City Wizards the past offseason and has scored a goal with a team-leading four assists for Metro this year. He was eligible to start the green card process last year, but the Wizards decided to ignore it; thankfully, RBNY wasn't as clueless.

The move leaves Metro with three senior internationals on the roster: Ronald Waterreus, Juan Pablo Angel, and Markus Schopp. However, the amount of cap space to fill the newly-created empty spot is questionable at best.
